The majority of our live-in nannies are overseas caregivers that come to Canada on the Live-In Caregiver program. Caregivers typically work between 40-48 hours per week and live with their employer. To hire a live-in caregiver, you must:
- Provide acceptable accommodation in your home.
- Make a job offer that has primary care giving duties for a child or an elderly or disabled person. (A job offer for a housecleaner, for example, is not acceptable under the Program.)
- Caregivers will be carefully screened by Inspired Nannies and a Citizenship and Immigration Canada visa officer before they enter Canada.
All applicants must meet the eligibility requirements of the Live-in Caregiver Program. These include:
- Post secondary education (72 units)
- Caregiver training or minimum 1 comparable year experience
- Speak English or French so that they can function on their own in an unsupervised setting
- Pass medical, security and criminal clearances
- Must have a formal signed contract with an employer
Inspired Nannies does thorough screening of all candidates and all employers will do a minimum of one phone interview before offering the candidate a position to ensure a personality fit and values alignment. Once the candidate has been offered a position both you, and the candidate will have ongoing access to our consultants to answer any questions you have during the orientation process and beyond.
Salaries for live-in nannies on the live-in caregiver program are set by the government. For information specific to your province click here:
